Sony has needed to streamline the way its cell phone works a bit over the past few years, which has meant launching fewer phones and exiting some markets, like Brazil. The company focused on three lines: one of the conventional flagships, one of the small tops and one of the large midsize.
As 2021 approaches, however, a rumor from Weibo, the Chinese social network, amazes us that fans of more compact devices will love it: the company may be considering the return of its Xperia Compact smartphone series.
Previously, this line was able to bring the high-end business experience to very small devices. The last time we saw the launch of this series was in 2018, with the Xperia XZ2 Compact.
The new model of the line could have become a priority within the Japanese company, which would devote efforts already planned to give life to a possible Xperia 10 II Plus in this “new” project. The new Compact could arrive with the unprecedented Qualcomm Snapdragon 775 SoC.
However, further information is still unknown. But in the days of the iPhone SE and iPhone 12 Mini, a small Android phone may be welcome, at a time when smartphones with less than 6 inches of screen have become a rarity.
As exciting as a new Compact model can be, unfortunately Sony no longer operates with its smartphone division in Brazil. In fact, in 2021, he intends to turn off other areas of operation in Brazil, such as smart TVs.
